Sponsorship advert completed

I have now completed my sponsorship sequence by adding the graphic on top of my video in iMovie. I did this by saving my logo with the transparent background as a PNG and placing it on top of the clip, where I chose the option, "Picture over picture" which I could then move and resize as I pleased.

Web pop up feedback

Having looked back at my web pop up I felt like it wasn't a modern enough advert. I went and asked a group of people about what they thought.

Taking their feedback into account, I have added links on to my web pop up to facebook and twitter and I think that it was a good improvement

Permission for songs and logos

Although I have finished my final pieces I have not had any response to the permission emails that I sent out a few weeks ago.

I just need to add the final logo on the last scene.

Sponsorship advert

I have done the last segment of my advert on photoshop and am ready to insert it on to my advert to complete my final ancillary task. This involved photoshopping the logo for hell's kitchen

I chose this picture as it was very high resolution and made it easier for me to crop around the logo and still look good.

Having looked at my style model again, I noticed that although the text comes up the film is still moving not a still image. So I have decided to use this bit of film to over lay my text on to.

Windows Live Movie Maker does have it's limitations which means that I will have to move on to iMovie to complete this part of the film to put the logo on to of the film

Sponsorship Advert

This week I got the final film for my sponsorship advert. I am going to be using the same backing track and voice over as the other two advert to stick with the continuity. However I will using a script I've written to make it fit with the TV show.

Male Voice in the style of Gordon Ramsey: "You call that food?!!"

Then I will use a censoring beep sound effect

Female voice: "Keep it clean, with Savon Magique. Proud sponsors of Hell's Kitchen"

Here I have used my slogan in a different way to as it was intended in my other adverts, to be mean, "keep the language clean". This is an effective slogan as it can be used in this way and interpreted differently should I use it to sponsor any other TV shows.

I have decided that I am going to use the theme song from Hell's Kitchen as the backing track for my advert, this means that I will have to send out another permission form to the record company.

Final for main adverts

Finally I was able to complete my two main adverts by adding the background music to them, these are my final adverts.

Garage Band

I recently purchased the Garage Band app for my iPad from the Apple Store. I'm not a very musically gifted person and this is where I really enjoyed the autoplay feature, which allows professional sounding music loops to be created at the touch of a button.

Before I began to make my background music I read the terms and conditions for the use of the autoplay feature. As expected this is fine to be used as personal, non-commercial use only, which is what I am doing. However, if the really industrial world, the autoplay feature would be completely out of bounds, but the app itself could still be used to create music.

I have used the autoplay loops to create a track I am happy with and emailed myself the m4a file to insert on to my advert.

Audience Research

In class today, we filmed the rest of our class watching our media week so far, I showed my second advert to class, although not completed to see what they thought.

After I had shown my work I asked the following question to a group of people to acquire qualitative research;

What do you think the advert is advertising?

Who do you think the target market audience is?

What time of day would this advert air?

Do you have any criticisms or  improvements?

2nd Advert

The past two days I have done the recording for my second advert, as I'd done a lot of draft work already and completed my 1st advert I went straight ahead and filmed the final shots for my second advert.

Next week I shall put the advert together in sequence and can then add the voiceovers

1st advert

The filming for my first advert is now complete and has been put together on imovie. This is my completed advert with the voice overs.

For the final additions to this, I must add the background music

Variation

My second advert is going to be a slight variation on the first, I did because having looked at my research this is a common way to present advert. The first showing of the adverts will tend a longer version with a full story, then the second and third version will be the same structure but slightly shorter and more concise. This is shown in particular from two advert, Go Compare and Compare The Market.

This is the first advert that aired in 2012, which is then followed by a series of other adverts subsequently shorter than this.

Similarly with Compare the Market, an advert from the beginning of 2010 is quite lengthy for an advert, however an advert than was released later on had continuity but was again, much shorter.

Voice over work

This week I have recorded the voice overs for both of my main adverts. I have used both a male and a female voice in the adverts to show gender diversity. I recorded the script a few times over to make sure it worked.

This followed the script of;

Female voice: "Your hands don't have it easy, so why not give them a helping hand. Savon Magique removes 99.9% of all bateria and germs. Keep it clean with Savon Magique."

As I have found that this is quite a long script, in my first advert instead of having a voice over saying, "Oh what a day" I will simply use an exhausted sigh to give the impression instead.

Here are the sound clips

Storyboard for Sponsorship

As my sponsorship advert is going to be shorter than the main adverts I decided I would look only at the hands as I did in the first advert. Like in my research I wanted to make my advert relevant to the show I was sponsoring, and I have done this by reenacting a typical scene from Hell's Kitchen in the style of my advert.

This means the audience would still recognise it to be connected with my other adverts and my web pop up, but it is still relevant to the show I'm sponsoring.

Here is the storyboard for my sponsorship sequence

As I already know I will needing to use the logo at the end of my advert I ham going to send a permission slip requesting permission to use this graphic as a part of my non-profit media work.

Sponsorship advert research

In this video there are two of the sponsorship advert for Coronation Street. In these adverts what they have done is taken a flavor of the show they are sponsoring (in this case, the setting) and merging it with their own advert.

This is what I intend to do and have decided to run my sponsorship sequence for Hell's Kitchen. This in particular because I thought keeping hands clean with hand soap is relevant to a cooking show. Although there are other cooking shows out there that my product would fit the criteria of, Hell's Kitchen has an average viewer count of over 4 million people. This is a great slot to have an advert.

Web pop up final version

Now that I have the final image of my own hand soap bottle that I made the label for I can now place the photograph that I have taken myself onto my web pop up.

This is my final version.

Web pop up mock up

I have taken some of the final photographs that I need and have been on photoshop to create a mock up of the final pop up to get an idea for layout that I can then place the final images straight on to.

I have photoshopped my web pop up into a web browser to show just how it would look opened in a browser.

Plans for this week

Now that I have my product packaging ready and a handdrawn draft for my web pop up, I can film the shot that I need involving the soap bottle and also take the photographs for my Web pop up this week.

The Label

I had the sticker with my label printed off on to a few pages varying in size. This was to help make sure that the size was okay and that I had more than one to work with if something went wrong with the first one.

Here is my hand soap bottle with the label I created stuck on to it

Web pop up research

In my lesson today I am going to be creating a draft for my web pop up, as one of my ancillary tasks. I started by taking a screen shot of the browser I use, to then use this a template for my web pop up.

I have looked at examples from the internet of web pop ups

In all of these adverts there is at least one picture to tempt the consumer into pursuing the advert further. Also in these advert there is an element of getting something for nothing, an offer that is on. This will entice the consumer. There is also definitely a section of the advert which is boldly coloured.
A hyperlink should be included so that the advert leads somewhere, preferably it would lead to somewhere that an email address could be entered as that the main purpose of a web pop up.

Having looked at my research material I have produced a hand drawn draft drawing of what my web pop up will look like

Making the sticker

For my advert I wanted to create my own sticker which I can the bottle to be shown in my advert. To test out how it look, I first photoshopped the logo and the detail text onto one of my style model bottles.

I began the process by taking out the logo, this was done by cropping and overlaying nearby sections to keep it looking realistic.

Having removed most of the other text, I inserted my already made logo on to the bottle

Similarly, with the other texts, I fitted them onto the bottle where I felt they would sit appropriately. I chose to just keep mine text based as I felt this would appeal to a wider audience, for instance, both male and female consumers.

Finally, I was pleased with the layout, I have straightened out the text and it is now ready to be printed and placed on to an existing bottle dispenser.

Creating the logo

I have looked at other brand logos and created my own to fit in with these conventional styles.

To create the shaped box, I used the pen tool to draw out my shape, then added a gradient layer underneath in blue. I then cropped around my shape, leaving my with the part of the gradient that I wanted

In this screen shot, you can see where I have added blending options that bring out the logo, making it stand out more.

Naming my product

I have looked at names of other products on the market and their packaging. So, before I start designing my own packaging I need to have named it. I went to the Lush website for inspiration, then I went to the french version of the site. The french versions of the names sounded classier and more professional. This is why I have decided to name my product, Savon Magique.

Editing together

I've edited together the clips in sequence, the transition between the first and second scene is to give the impression of looking back into the past, like a flashback.

Filming

Today I filmed some of the shots for my final advert. I took several shots of each scene so that I had enough to work with when it came to filming.

Product Design

I have been looking at products already on the market and analysing the packaging so that I can make mine as authentic as possible by following the conventions on the packaging labels.

Test shot and filming

I want to have my shots consisting of just the hands from a first person view, as I want the focus of my advert to be on just the hands. My attempt consisted of waring the camera around my neck level with my hands. However this meant that every time they moved their hands the camera would also move.

After this, I tried taking the film from over the shoulder, which worked just fine so long as the hands were right in front of the actor. This means I will have to adapt my shots to make sure that just the hands are visible in every shot.

Setting the scene

For two of my adverts I need to have a scene set up using a doll's house. I have set up both of the locations so that they are ready for recording when I can film with the actors
As they are both set up in the same room of the doll's house I will have to do the filming on different occasions so that no one is left waiting.
